SEATTLE CHAMBER MUSIC FESTIVAL--In its 81st year, Stravinsky's L'Histoire du soldat appears to officially be a repertoire staple; here's its third performance in as many months, along with Brahms' Quintet in F op. 34 and Beethoven's String Quartet in B flamesat op. 130--no word on which finale they will use. The pre-concert recital, Yael Weiss soloing, consists of Shumann's Abegg Variations, Chopin's Mazurkas, and more Beethoven: the Sonata for Piano in F sharp, a particular favorite of the composer. Lakeside School, 14050 1st Ave NE, Fri July 30, 7/8 pm, free on the lawn, $25/$30, 283-8808.

OLYMPIC MUSIC FESTIVAL--Schubert's Sonata for Violin and Piano, D.574, Brahms Quartet in A op. 26, and Rachmaninoff's Sonata in G for Cello and Piano. Olympic Festival Barn, which is southwest of Port Townsend and northeast of Quilcene, but you'd better call for accurate directions. Sat July 31 and Sun Aug 1, 2 pm, $10 for the lawn, $15/$18/$20, 527-8839.

ICICLE CREEK CHAMBER MUSIC FESTIVAL--For the season's closing night, Mendelssohn's String Quartet op. 44, no. 1, and the festival's signature piece, Collage, a theatrical juxtaposition of varying styles and instruments in little three-minute sound bites. How does it sound? Don't know, never heard it. My guess is better than Cage's Apartment House 1776 and worse than Berio's Sinfonia--or vice versa if you prefer. Sleeping Lady, 3 miles down Icicle Road of Hwy 2, Leavenworth, Sat July 31, 8 pm and Sun Aug 1, 2 pm, $14/$16, (877) 265-6026.
