The Brick House's days are numbered (soon the city will take over the space for use as a marine biology center), and the August 30th show will be the last the little house on Shilshole will ever see. But until that fateful day, the nonprofit organization that has been booking shows at the Brick House, Art Without Limits (AWOL), is making the most of the space, and this weekend it's throwing a big, free summer party for everyone.

It all starts Saturday the 16th at noon, and the day's lineup of bands is enormous: the Jet City Fix, Pistol for a Paycheck, Bent Kactis, Post Stardom Depression, Woke Up Falling, Dirty Bomb, Mindhead, the Evaluation, 6 Minute Mile, Dear Darling, the Fall of Troy, 5 Good Reasons, Point No Point... the list goes on and on! (And did I mention you get to see all the bands for FREE?)

To cater to the young and quickly-fleeting attention spans, there will be two stages (one indoors, one out) supplying a constant stream of music. There will also be prizes and giveaways supplied by the event's very kind sponsors (Sonic Boom Records, Marley's Snowboards and Skateboards, Papa John's Pizza, and XS Energy Drink, to name a few).

Now I know that's a lot of information to handle all at once, so let me simplify things for you as best I can. Of all the bands on the bill, you simply cannot miss the Fall of Troy. The trio of young men don't hide the fact that they've found inspiration in the Blood Brothers' screamy chaos, but don't shun them as copycats, because while their music certainly has hints of the Blood Brothers and Botch, they're still creating a sound all their own, with melodies, intricate guitar patterns, and anthemic choruses littered throughout their fast, spastic songs. This stuff is really good.

The Fall of Troy is releasing a new record in November, and after recently being passed an advance copy (shhh, don't tell), I've been listening to it every day, discovering all the different layers of sound the band has crammed into the 40-minute disc. Everyone (myself included) is gonna want to keep an eye on these boys, especially since their live show is just as impressive as the record. They go on at 2 pm, so don't miss them.

As for the rest of the day, the complete lineup, directions, and anything else you can ever imagine can be found on AWOL's website (www.artwithoutlimits.org). MEGAN SELING
