The day WOS is gone, is the day I move from Seattle. I love the store more than I can say. Thanks to Jeffrey and Michael for enriching my musical experiences the past few years.
is there now ANY store in the pnw that you'd be more likely to find life changing music than
here ? these guys are holy peoples.. and pretty too...
;~)
Yup. I love these guys and their store and I go out of my way to have them special order stuff for me as opposed to ordering it online. In fact, they know me so well the other day I called in and said: "So I'd like to make a special order, it's on Die Schactel records" and Jeffrey immediately responded "Electric Harpsichord, right?" He knew who I was and what I was calling about just by recognizing my voice. Now that's a badass local store.
WOS is a magnificent temple to the art of discovery. I never go in looking for anything in particular. I always leave with something particularly splendid. Spend your money there!!!
Thank you, Dave, for spotlighting the vital role WoS plays in Seattle's music community. From Baby Dee to Tonetta, they've turned me on to some of my fave artists. I love getting the occasional phone message from Michael saying "I remember you bought [insert band/record A here] a while back, and I just wanted to let you know we just got in copies of [insert band/record B here] you might like, too."
Great article. I especially liked the point about Jeffery and Michael's unending enthusiasm for the music. Really hit the nail on the head. There isn't enough of that kind of joy in these jaded times, and walking into WoS is like taking an enormous breath of fresh and inspired air.
