I'm impressed that you actually picked up on this.

Poor, unread Line Out.

My favorite part of this video: the marked difference in clapping rhythm between the black and white members of the audience.

Tomorrow night's Talcum @ Chop Suey dedicated to Gladys -- come dance to some Marvelous Marvelettes and lots of great rare soul music!

@2: Maybe Dan wasn't at the meeting where they decided to have 2 blogs on the website.

Motown was so much more than its music (even though its music would surely have been enough). There was something wonderful about picking out talented kids from economically-deprived backgrounds - kids who wanted to do well, and putting them in both etiquette classes (thank you, Ms. Maxine Powell) and in gorgeous gowns and suits.

Something like Motown could never happen again and I am so glad I got to be a part of its audience. Thank you, Gladys, for the joy. Thank you so much.

Very cool video find! I think the thing that stuck out the most to me was the gap in her front teeth. That would NEVER fly in a music vid today.

@7. Love the gap. Not sure why.

Where the fuck did they get that audience? And what is the white dude on the end wearing? It looks like pants that are too short & knee high socks?!?
10
@8 me too. It adds character to her face.

Please wait...
