The 1959 sci-fi film Plan 9 from Outer Space is a dusty comedy gem: The plot centers on aliens who land on planet Earth armed with extraterrestrial shovels to dig up an army of vampires and zombies who are tasked with stopping humanity from creating a solar-powered bomb that could destroy the universe. It's got everything: intergalactic grave robbers! Man-on-man-ish warfare! Sexy vampires! Bombs! Boobs! Bronze bikinis! Maybe! There is a very special type of person willing to travel to Kirkland to watch Steve-O perform "comedy." In my life, that person is Uncle Ronnieāa man who plants miniature gardens in trashed toilets and subsists mostly off dog treats and Bud Light. A man other relatives describe as "not quite right in the head" after a serious motorcycle accident years ago. From the press release: "STEVE-O brings his comedy schtick in with a vengence. Mike Baldwin
This year's Seattle International Comedy Competition winner, Mike Baldwin, returns to headline in the basement that anointed him a comedy god. As Stranger staffer and SICC judge David Schmader put it, Baldwin's comedy is "smart, inventive, polished but relaxed, and so funny I all but forgot [other comedians] who made me want to hoot at their lameness."
