DEREK SHEEN, RECORDED LIVE!

Derek Sheen, whose jokes in turn make me incredibly uncomfortable and then amused and then incredibly uncomfortable again, is recording his first comedy CD/DVD—IN THE FLESH—at Seattle's Comedy Underground. For this to work, he needs an audience (or at least one loud, sarcastic laugher). Being a participant/observer in a recorded comedy show is at least 10 times more entertaining than other events worth filming—weddings, graduations, brises—because the drinking starts immediately, you don't have to bring a present, and for once it's about keeping you entertained, not about them, them, them. Of course, Sheen excels in making comedy all about him, him, him, but like I said, that's when he's funniest and most discomfiting. So go, watch him pantomime making love to his wife while sweating stale beer, and grace him with your elaborately loud, donkey-style hee-hawing. Who knows, you could even be discovered—you could make a name for yourself as That Asshole in the Back. Wouldn't that just chap the panties right off your historically unsupportive parents, who swore you'd never amount to any kind of asshole? This could be the start of a glorious laugh-track career! You, you, you! Seattle Comedy Underground; Thurs 8:30 pm, $10, all ages; Fri–Sat 8:30 and 10:30 pm, $15 adv/$20 DOS, 21+; Sun 8:30 pm, $15 adv/$20 DOS, all ages.

SUNDAY 6/10

THE GRAWLIX

Comedians Adam Cayton-Holland, Andrew Orvedahl, and Ben Roy are the brains behind The Grawlix, a monthly comedy show and web series based in Denver. As fans of the show can attest, The Grawlix isn't super well-known (points for underground street cred!), but it is awkward, brilliant, and funny, and the dudes are bringing their act to Re-bar for Seattle's annual Noise for the Needy charity fest. Go online, check them out, get excited, then get your tickets. Re-bar, 7:30 pm, $12 adv/$15 DOS, 21+.
