@1 - Beside Beauty and the Beat coming out a year before the Waitresses first record, I'm don't really hear much music equivalency. The Waitresses were fun, but they were jerky, almost percussion-lead. Go Go's are all jangle and hooks.
That moment in the "Our Lips Are Sealed" video when Jane Wiedlin jumps in the fountain and her skirt flips up, revealing silky white panties was one of the defining moments of my early MTV-watching days.
