ARAABMUZIK BRINGS HIS MPC SORCERY TO THE FWD WEEKLY

Q's future-leaning FWD weekly taps highly in-demand remixer araabMUZIK (aka Providence, Rhode Island's Abraham Orellana) this week. When he's not reconfiguring tracks by mainstream artists like Rihanna, Trey Songz, 50 Cent, and Sleigh Bells, araabMUZIK creates richly atmospheric hiphop opuses that sound like they were recorded in a cathedral the size of an airport. His recordings lean toward the lush and slow end of the beatmaker spectrum (I called it "Cocteau Twins gone hiphop," back in 2011). But live, araabMUZIK has a rep for winging it and flaunting lightning-fast reflexes on the MPC. Given the requirements of pleasing a crowd in Q's vast environs, he's likely to err on the side of manic rhythms tonight. Q Nightclub, 9 pm, $12, 21+.

SWEDISH TECHNO DUO SHXCXCHCXSH ARE OUT OF THIS WORLD

Man, I love me some remorselessly hypnotic techno. And few labels are more proficient at supplying the world with that style than Avian Records. Swedish duo SHXCXCHCXSH (more on the name soon) stand as one of that label's foremost artists, with output that encompasses profound and manifold shades of gray. SHXCXCHCXSH don't make it very easy for you to dance to their creations (check out the ungainly stomp and piercing swirls of "LTTLWLF"), but a gnomic passion exists beneath their stoic exteriors. The typical emotions associated with music don't seem to be welcome in SHXCXCHCXSH's world, and that's largely what makes them fascinating. They force you to focus on their tracks' highly unusual textural and rhythmic elements, which open portals to exhilaratingly desolate realms. At its best (see "PCTSTSS," "SLVRBBL," and the Burial-like lunar dubstep of "The Under Shore"), this music appears to be the product of diabolical automatons rather than humans. On top of that, the group's name, when pronounced (good luck with that), sounds like a malfunctioning machine gnashing its gears. Similarly, track titles are mostly strings of consonants, which makes it hard to punch them into search engines and, hence, to illegally download their songs. That's Scandinavian ingenuity at its devious best. The rest of this robust local lineup assures that tonight will be one of the greatest MOTOR events to date. With Archivist, Apartment Fox, Raica, Mood Organ, and Dr. Troy. Kremwerk, 9 pm, $12, 21+.

SHAKE YOUR MONEYLOSER TO TÂCHES'S "SHALLOW HOUSE"

This week Studio 4/4 brings in young Barcelona-based British producer/DJ TÂCHES, who makes house music that takes its time oozing into your pleasure centers. Sauntering at a fairly leisurely clip, his tracks rely on evocative real and sampled vocals to enhance their complex amalgam of glamorous glumness and subdued euphoria. TÂCHES self-deprecatingly refers to his music as "shallow house," but it has more depth than many big-room artists' output. With Wesley Holmes, Tyler Brown, and Sean Majors. Q Nightclub, 9 pm, $12, 21+. recommended
