2 of the 7 have been attributed to lightning strikes (and one of those is a predominately-white church).
1 was an electrical short.

be angry as fuck about 4/7, but shit does happen.

Ya gotta wonder about a church that gets struck by lighting and burns down... Must be a message in there somewhere.

Here's the state of investigation on several:
Elyria OH - Arson ruled out.
Knoxville TN - Arson - but bales of hay against a wall is an open invitation to garden-variety firebugs.
Charlotte NC - Arson.
Gibson County TN - Believed lightning.
Greeleyville SC - Lightning.
Macon GA - Believed arson.
Warrenville SC - Investigation concluded, cause "undetermined".
Tallahassee FL - Tree branch fell on electric wires.

Churches burn a lot, for many reasons. Acts of God. Bad maintenance. Careless cooking. Belief that the Power of Faith trumps the Laws of Physics. And arson.

And arsons happen for different reasons. Ordinary pyromania, insurance fraud, individual grudges, attempts to cover up other crimes, as well as domestic terrorism.

Yeah, fuck the facts.

Fuck the fact that churches are ordinary pyros' favorite targets. Fuck the fact that churches are burning at ordinary rates, black or white, south or elsewhere.

Fuck the fact that none of the arsons or presumed arsons included the usual indicants of hate crimes (racist grafitti, etc), and at least one two (or possibly three) occurred amid a local series of unrelated arsons.

Fuck the fact that there's no evidence of a wave of racially-motivated church burnings.

But if there's no wave of racially-motivated church burnings, and somebody is convincing our young people that there is ... who's the fucking real fucking terrorist in this fucking picture?

The rest of the Stranger needs radicalization and a purge of its quisling readership. Apologists for racism shouldn't have so large a voice in an "alternative" publication.

Please wait...
