Chris Cornell, 1964-2017

The late Chris Cornell, best known as Soundgarden's charismatic front man and one of the most commanding vocalist/lyricists in Seattle music history, is having a commemorative statue unveiled at MoPOP (northwest corner of 5th Avenue North and Thomas Street) on Sunday, October 7 at 5:30 pm-6:00 pm (it's free, all ages, and open to the public). Commissioned by his wife Vicky Cornell, the life-size bronze sculpture by Nick Marra presents the hard-rock icon in one of his trademark poses with his signature boots, dog tag, and long hair. The statue is being donated to MoPOP. After the unveiling, a screening of a Soundgarden show at the Wiltern, shot by the Artist Den, will take place inside MoPOP's Sky Church. You need to RSVP to view it.

ICYMI, here's Sean Nelson's very good 2015 interview with Cornell.
