the problem with this article is that the critic appears unable to frame a view on art outside of his own cosy culturally specific viewpoint. the album, as with all music, hip hop in particular, is an expression of the soul of the artist. just because it doesn't fit with the writers view on how one should behave doesn't invalidate it. we're not here to judge kendricks character ffs were here to feel complexity of his being.
open your mind robert and imagine yourself in someone else's shoes, someone else viewpoint. this is the key experience of almost all art. art and music is not designed to fit into a culturally, politically correct box determined by you. it belongs to the artist. and this is valid regardless of their beliefs.
