Maybe I'm just an old boofer that can recall the days when the Beatles and the Byrds and Jefferson Airplane were blasting through the a.m. dial at Dick's drive in in Bellevue and other places. Those are the memories of my generation, I can't speak ill of young persons and their music. History will tell the tale of enduring talent, rap and hip hop are beyond my comprehension.
@longwayhome; Do not be mistaken, hiphop not only is music, but it is a culture far beyond what you are giving it credit for. It has been around since the 70's and mainstream since the 80's. It created a turning point for music, fashion, and consumerism in general, in the 90's. 30+ years of hiphop in America along with worldwide recognition and influence says it is here to stay. You personally being unable to comprehend it does not take away from the fact that is in fact music. Sadly, you probably listen to more of it than you realize; because it is that embedded into our culture now. Movies, TV shows, commercials... these all cater to the hiphop community today. Don't underestimate it just because you do not understand it.
