Coat hangers, discarded lumber and caution tape. Fucking rediculous looking. Art?

Kim Gordon's interview was a fiasco. Bruce Pavitt could not have been less interested in interviewing her and seemed not to have prepared any questions. He barely asked her about the book. Basically, he spent the first five minutes quibbling with her about whether SY first came to Seattle in 84 or 85. Then he asked her what seemed like ten questions about playing with Mudhoney (I swear, I learned more about Mudhoney during this thing). THEN he asked her to tell the story about when Courtney punched Kathleen in the face, as if everyone in the room hadn't already heard it. Then he went off on a tangent about what Calvin Johnson thinks of Courtney Love, like Calvin is such a reliable source when it comes to women. He joked about not having finished the book and then laughed and said "Just kidding, I did. It was good." The end. He barely asked her anything before he turned it over to questions (at her request, probably because his interviewing skills were painful). He was such a tool.

Everyone around me was grumbling "Oh Jesus fucking Christ" every time Kim was lobbed yet another offensively stupid question. The audience questions were ridiculous, from "What's your favorite muppet?" to "How'd you end up on the Silent Hill soundtrack?" to girls grandstanding pointedly about their problems with sexism in the industry before just asking their damn questions, or condescendingly telling her how brave she was for writing such a candid book. She is Kim fucking Gordon, not a tiny child.

It was truly awful. Which is too bad, because I heard a lot of people afterwards blaming her for not trying hard enough, but I've heard that her other interviews for this tour have been really detailed and articulate and all about the book. She was just given nothing to work with here, and I think she shut down in frustration over how stupid the questions were.

Oh, and Pavitt also asked the favorite question of female artists everywhere in the most obnoxious way "But wouldn't you say that your daughter is your GREATEST creation?" What the hell? It was like he was trying to be an asshole.

Please wait...
