Am just getting over an unfortunate months-long obsession with The Hills (it's 'you gon' have to do it at my tempo'). It's both fascinating & completely embarrassing & I love it so much. The video & the Amharic bit at the end in particular.

Yes! Great point! All songs about wanting to bone someone are basically the same genre and totally comparable to each other. "For better results, pull up W.A.S.P.'s 'Animal (Fuck Like a Beast).'"

Uptown Funk is derivative as all hell, but when you're derivative of something that good, it can't help but rub off. I like the song a lot.
