In re: Doves. Why are you recommending this show? Oh, wait - I figured it out. It gives you a chance to distinguish your keen, educated musical palate from that of the bland, elevator music-loving public.

A write-up in this section doesn't imply a recommendation. Not every blurb is positive. In Up&Coming, we try to present a survey of the week's most noteworthy shows, not all of whose lineups we necessarily like.

I understand that the moniker "noteworthy" gives you license to discuss shows by bands you don't like, but what is noteworthy about "utter blandness"? That seems to be the exact opposite of noteworthy. It seems to me that what you are trying to make "noteworthy" is your harsh position on this good band.

But I guess I should thank you for swaying people into not going to this show - it's sold out and I'm looking for a ticket.

You suck, Eric Grandy. Way to write a blurb about a band you've never seen before... And with so many shows going on in Seattle, why waste newsprint writing about a band you have no knowledge of and no interest in? You're doing a pretty mediocre job yourself.

In regards to your Doves article. Travis formed before Coldplay. If you're going to bash what you consider to be a whole genre, at least get your facts straight.
6
In regards to the Doves write up. If you're going to bash what you consider to be an entire genre of music, get your facts right. Travis was formed before Coldplay, and Doves before both of them. Who's emulating who?

"Noteworthy" as in what we perceive will be of interest to many readers (e.g., Doves)—although that is not the only criterion for inclusion in the section.

You're right about Travis, but acc. to Wiki, Coldplay formed in 97, Doves in 98.

Gojira SLAYED El Corazon. With shows like that, the waves they are making should go tidal soon.

Please wait...
