GBV won't play Surigical Focus since that wasn't recorded during this 'classic lineup' phase of the band. They're only playing the albums recorded until about '96

Guided by Voices just kicked a few thousand asses tonight in Soho. Usually reunion gigs are a nostalgic disappointment, but the 1992-96 GBV Classic Lineup ripped it up. The set list was a mix of indie rock gems and some very cool obscure GBV b sides. Tobin Sprout and Bob Pollard are obviously still very relevant and should consider working on new material. It is good to see that important "underground" bands from the early to mid 90's like GBV, Pavement,Flaming Lips, etc have a legit shelf life.
