From the jealous four-year-old who secretly feeds her new baby sister a bug to Survivor’s Sue, who announced in front of 50 million viewers that she hoped fellow castaway Kelly would be consumed by vultures, vengeance is the bittersweet satisfaction to be had by every man, woman, and child on the planet. How satisfying it must have been for Dave Grohl to release the anti-Courtney Love rant “Stacked Actors” as a single, and have it immediately enter heavy rotation. The list goes on and on, some acts of vengeance shining, while others merely glint momentarily. Whatever the case (unless we’re on the receiving end), we love it all because it puts us “in the know.” Over the next several pages, The Stranger celebrates all that is good and deliciously right about vengeance….
