THURSDAY 10/25
FREMONT HAUNT--The corner of N 34th and Evanston has an actual history of mysterious murders: For the whole story, go to www.fremonthaunt.com. A warehouse now stands at that corner, and many claim it really is haunted. Proceeds from this haunted-house experience go to the Cerebral Palsy association PROVAIL, and the Wallingford Boys & Girls Club. 97.3 KBSG SCARE HOUSE--A haunted house with live theater that won the King County Event Producers Award--whatever that means. The "Family Hour," from 7 to 8 pm each night, features a show with "less scare." HAUNTED MINI-GOLF--I don't have any information about how this mini-golf course will be haunted; it could be that there are all-new scary obstacles, or it could be that the windmills are draped with cobwebs (you know how some places "decorate"). TRICKS, TREATS, AND TAROT CARDS--Inspired by Halloween's occult metaphysics, the Broadway Market will open its doors to psychic readers, astrologers, palm and tarot card readers, and other assorted clairvoyants. Broadway Market, 401 Broadway E, 322-1610, Sat-Sun Oct 27-28, 10 am-9 pm, free.
PUMPKIN PUSH 2001--As a benefit for the Puget Sound Neighborhood Health Centers and its 45th St Clinic, this is a family walk/run in which you wear a costume other than those dorky running shorts. Sand Point Magnuson Park, Sand Point Way at 74th St, 8 am, $20/$25; call 729-9972 for details.
RADICAL WOMEN PARTY--"Make Magic Not War at a Halloween Rebel's Night Out" is the motto of this party, which features a buffet, a no-host bar, a costume contest, and "Truth Bedeviled," a production by the Witches Network News. BROOMSTICK BOOGIE--This party is the brainchild of EMP, KUBE 93.3 FM, and the Seattle Weekly, and I'm dying to know which eloquent camp wrote up the event as "the most haunting Halloween Bash in the most indescribable and hottest party spot in Seattle!" It gives me chills every time I read it. He or she with the best costume will be flown to the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas. EMP, 325 Fifth Ave N, 770-2702, 9 pm, $10/$15.
93.3 KUBE HAUNTED HOUSE--The second most haunting bash in the second most indescribable and hottest party spot in Seattle! Family Fun Center, 7300 Fun Center Way, Tukwila. Thurs 7-10 pm, Fri-Sat 7 pm-1 am, Sun 6-10 pm, Mon 6 pm-midnight, Tues-Wed 6 pm-1 am; for directions go to www.kube93.com.

QUEER MURDER--The sex club Basic Plumbing plays host to this year's event, "Murder in the Dark." It's a "game of half murder mystery and half tag," according to Basic Plumbing, which could mean any number of things. For queer guys ages 18-29 (!!). RAISE THE DEAD PARTY--"Come as you were," the party's host suggests. The party includes readings and a performance by Fathia, a French cabaret singer. Seattle Metaphysical Library, 1000 E Madison #B, 329-1794, 3-9 pm, donations accepted.
HALLOWEEN IN THE PARK--The Seattle Art Museum sponsors a family-oriented event that features hands-on art-making activities, puppet shows, and pony rides, and an artist will carve a larger-than-life pumpkin. HOW VAMPIRES AND HALLOWEEN GOT ALL TANGLED UP--This lecture will teach you about the history of the holiday and its iconography. It will be given by Bats Northwest, an organization that serves the batty community. REI, 222 Yale Ave, 223-1924, 7 pm, free.

COGNITIVE DISSIDENTS--Coffee Messiah is always populated with Capitol Hill's goth contingent. Tonight they kick out the jams, and Dr. Precarious will host an open forum for the audience to share its most terrifying ghost stories. Coffee Messiah, 1554 E Olive Wy, 861-8233, 8 pm, free.
SMACKDOWN IV--This is the "All Hallows Eve Wrestling Massacre," hosted by Dominatrix Roxy and Miss Jesse Volt. I have no idea what to expect. This seems like the riskiest Halloween event you could attend, and so it'll probably be the best. Vogue, 1516 11th Ave, 324-5778, 9 pm, $5.
WEDNESDAY 10/31
SEATTLE'S BIGGEST COSTUME CONTEST--I'm not sure if that's true, but it's what the Broadway Grill claims--and since costumes are lies, I will honor this claim, true or not. They say "the grand prize (a trip for two to Maui, Hawaii, including air fare) goes to the most creative costume," because it's the lie itself that deserves awards, not the person telling the lie. TROLL-A-GO-GO--Described by promoters New Style Collective as an "ethereal haunted lovefest," the Troll-a-Go-Go will feature fire and trapeze artists, belly dancing, and installation art. PUMPKIN CARVING CONTEST--The Butterworth Building, where the restaurant Avenue One is currently located, was built as Seattle's first funeral home. Restaurant employees say the place is haunted. Tonight, compare costumes and carve pumpkins to compete for a $50 gift certificate to the restaurant. Avenue One, 1921 First Ave, 441-6139, 5 pm.
