The insurance vultures who want to let children with pre-existing medical conditions languish have a friend in Sarah Palin. She, the patron saint of quitters and liars, takes the side of child killers. Anything for a buck, huh Sarah?
@5 Then let's take some of their billions in profits and put it into a guaranteed fund that can be used to promise future payment. The present situation is intolerable.
Rick Steves' post is just depressing. I knew American media is hopeless (no offence), I'd like to live in a world where there's at least one credible news source (again, no offence).
But I know what he means. At a previous job, my boss wanted to put out spin in a newspaper (at least it was good spin - we were a green company, trying to make a sustainable world), and was amazed at how easy it was to do. He never told me about what money changed hands, but I could tell he came away wanting to take a shower.
How pathetic is it that our leading Dem's are sending letters to McKenna, asking him nicely to vacate his lawsuit? Get bold, Dems. Get creative. He's making a play to lead our State. Shut him down now.
My thanks to Rick Steves for an excellent article.
We will never make any progress in this country unless we all demand broad changes in our media.
The first step is write the advertisers, and stop buying any of their products. Tell them you're not watching it and you're sure as hell not buying it. Any of it, including their purchased media-bias and political agenda.
The next step is to actually stop watching, period. And begin reading, and thinking much more critically than we have been. Ask questions, demand answers. And in some cases, you may "Trust, but Verify,' as Ronald Reagan once said.
My formative years were during Vietnam and Watergate. My god, how the world of media has changed since then.
We must take it back.
Most children are healthy, only a very few have expensive preexisting conditions. If insurance companies are forced to cover all children, they'll still come out ahead. But coming out ahead isn't good enough for the greedy fucks.
One of the things I enjoy about the culture of Catholicism is the over-the-top costumes and architecture, as well as some of the overwrought prayers, but claiming to be "crowned with thorns" because people are asking legitimate questions about child molestation is even more ridiculous than usual - and not at all in a campy way.
I hate to use the word, but that Archbishop is an asshole.
