I read that this was for a very long-running and well-produced reality series, "The First 48," not an upcoming series.

Usually the show is less adrenaline filled than most, focusing more on the procedural aspects of investigation homocides, not on SWAT raids. This isn't "Cops."

Detroit has been a corrupt shithole for a long damn time

About to get messy?

And you forgot to include the obligatory explanation of how this is Amazon's fault.
4
It should be illegal for film crews to follow the police into people's homes.
5
I like Detroit. Greektown and Mexicantown are pretty awesome, even at night.

Detroit is a ThirdWorld Shithole.
Think Seattle in 10 years......

This is an example of how the term "reality TV" is an oxymoron. Being obseved and recorded changes behavior, especially when there are producers about trying to crank up the drama. The attorney mentioned has a good point. Maybe this type of thing should be called "Schrodinger's pitbull" after the dogs which are so often killed during raids. It is tragic that this time it was an innocent child.

Paul, don't you have a word for people who question the official explanation of events?

I suggest you re-read the first reports and just ridicule anyone who questions it any further. Else, you may start coming across as a nut.

Tinfoil hat, Paul? Next your going to suggest that ALIENS shot the little girl from space. Come on, man, get a grip.

Here's a good article on the event, assuming it's not too truther-esque for you.

Detroit is an amazing city. This is a terrible event.

@9,

A good article? Just the description of the death as an "execution" is enough to discredit that lunatic.

A&E will be on hand to film what promises to be "a contentious courtroom scene," sources said...

The reality TV aspect of this reminds me of this article: http://www.esquire.com/print-this/predat…

@11-- Invoking the Gestapo also sent the article into the Godwin abyss.

Few things piss me off more than when someone who has a point I generally agree with delivers it in a way that embarrasses me for having the same point of view. That Kos article is a joke.
15
@14,

I commend you for getting that far.
16
Can 2010 please be the year that the violence of police militarization finally starts getting mainstream bad press.
17
@10: if Detroit is so 'amazing', are you saving up to move there?
18
@17 yes actually, I've been considering it quite a lot, especially lately. I'm a local small business owner though and I'm just about to pay off my building. It's not as easy as just 'packing up and moving' for me to get there.

Please wait...
