Correlation is not Causation.

As in, people who brush their teeth two or more times a day may also go to the doctor when they're ill, have better diets, and have functional families that ensure they receive preventative care.

They may also eat less processed meats, or drink moderate alcohol (wine) with meals. Which is strongly correlated with heart disease (processed meats - bad, moderate alcohol good (male) neutral (female).
