My sympathy meter doesn't even reach a .1 for those obnoxious couples captured by the pirates. But hopefully, the La Quinta Inn of Mogadishu isn't too run down for their stay.
I think it's prudent to assume that the outcome of these various Middle Eastern area revolutions will depend almost entirely on who each country's military decides to support.
@8 You have a point, if inarticulate, that these people may well have acted carelessly, foolishly, and the taxpayer will expend a great deal of money pulling their nuts out of the grinder. There is no doubt they went knowingly into dangerous waters. They are not unlike the hikers being held in Iran for "spying" and it's difficult to have sympathy for such foolish people that go to places of well known danger and end up costing us all in wasted time and money trying to save them.
@6 because we are human beings, and contrary to your naive utopian ideals, we are all vicious and terrible creatures, bred in the bone to compete with and destroy one another.
What a great showcase for that song. Now I'm off looking for the fiercest YouTube versions of "Looking Out for Love". And here I was all set to leave the house. Hmph.
@3 = troll
