Teamsters Local 117 is filing a complaint with the National Labor Relations Board, after Hertz Car Rental at Seatac Airport fired 25 Muslim workers for refusing to comply with a new policy requiring them to clock out for prayer breaks. The Teamsters argue that Hertz acted unilaterally, without bargaining with or even notifying the union, in violation of their contract, labor laws, and Hertz's own internal policies.

Hertz workers are not required to clock out for activities such as cigarette breaks, prompting the union to charge that the new policy amounts to religious discrimination.
