Pretty sure Big Business already got to vote ...

The blithe incompetence of the NW bureaucrat.

Purely by "accident," of course. And we won't know how many ballots were sent back and never received until... well, ever.

Other than the de facto poll tax (aka US postage) required to cast a ballot in this state, the lack of accountability and the potential screw ups in the delivery cycle are why I strongly opposed mandatory mail-in voting.

@3 Whether your ballot was received is public information... there's just as much accountability in vote-by-mail as there is in a poll election.
6
@ 3 no defacto poll tax as long as they got options to drop it off

That very thing happened to me - moved, used the DOL address change form, checked the box to update my voter reg as well, and ... nothing came in the mail. Only noticed because my husband, who updated his address directly with Elections, received his. I called KC Elections last Monday, they sent a ballot on Tuesday and I received it on Weds.

This happened to me. I moved six months ago and filled out the change of address form online. I noticed I didn't receive a ballot when they were sent out and called the king county elections auditor. They apologized and sent me out a ballot the next day.

It was a technical glitch, but if you were even slightly aware as a voter, an easily correctable glitch.

Cool, so sometimes we don't send out ballots but you can come and vote a provisional ballot that we won't count because nobody has to work till close of business day. These people are of course not being held accountable, because it's just a glitch, and you should have done something differently since who would expect that they'd follow the rules and do what they are supposed to do. Disgusting.

Please wait...
