I feel like 8.6% unemployment isn't really that high for the United States. Pre-recession, the natural rate of unemployment here was around 5%. It could be worse.

Naked Man Allegedly Charges Cop: the unintended effects of Meth use or just another Thursday night in Thurston County?

Likely both.

@ 3,

That's the official rate, which doesn't include people whose UI benefits have run out, that are working part-time because they can't find full-time work, or that have given up looking because they can't find any job. The real unemployment rate is at least double, more like 16% - 18%.

Echoing #1:
Democrats didn't fail anything: Republicans actively filibustered the bill.
Don't just parrot the AP.

Yeah. I'm with @1. Don't say it's the Dem's fault when they got a MAJORITY. That's called the Republicans using a filibuster.
9
In Spain, it's something like 28%. Across southern Europe, it's like that -- 45% among young people.
10
@7 the MSM doesn't want you to know that.

@9 it's higher, actually. Greece is astronomic.
11
@10, I believe the youth unemployment rate is higher in Spain than Greece, Will.

Depends on how measured. Greece diesn't count illegals as much as Spain does.
