I have always admired Smith. He doesn't scream from the rooftops, but he doesn't need to. He's a smart guy who knows how to work with people, and his heart is in the right place. Now if we can just get him to run for Mayor...

Calling yourself an "ultraliberal" is more than a bit extreme.
I think of ultralibs who want to impeach BHO, nationalize Goldman Sachs, require race balanced voting, withdraw all US forces, end close our markets to imports,
As much as I like you, I don't think you make the grade!
Where we disagree is about the inane idea that the new district represents "people of color." What effin color might that be? The brown of the White Center Peruvian or the Mercer Island sephardim? Or maybe it is sort of a muddy yellow .. as with the marriage of middle class Japanese folks from South Bellevue with African Americans from south of Madison?
I also think you are deluded when you equate people of color with progressivism. How many Hispanics, Somali, or African American support gay marriage? Oh ... with a HUGE part of the local Jewish community in the new District, is support for Israel a "progressive" stand?
Coloredness aside you are, like Adam Smith, a rationalist. In a world of Romney, Gingrich, Paul, and Kucinich ... "rational" may be "liberal" but it certainly ain't "ultra."
I will give you my WWJD pin (what would Jefferson do?"
