Democrats Try Sticking It to Rural Conservatives

Stop! They're both right. It is both unfair and shortsighted for Eastern Washington and rural areas to continuously bite the hand that feeds them by thwarting efforts toward progressive tax measures and legislation. Thank you Reuven Carlyle for stepping up to the plate and calling out the hypocrisy.
It is also true that those who will be hurt most by turning off the spigot are children, the poor, the disabled, and seniors. Not to mention that until Eastern Washington becomes Western Idaho, the state government is responsible for all citizens equally. Thank you Ed Murray for reminding us and looking out for the easily forgotten. How about a expiration date on Carlyle's proposal and then revisit the matter with alternative proposals - state income tax on top earners?

Since we're going to need help from ALL Washingtonians to help pay for that mistake of a Deep Bore Tunnel, I think we should be nice to everyone in Washington State.

My state senator is being his usual responsible self, and I admire him for that. Still, I've long since tired of paying for roads and social services in Eastern Washington, just to get, in return, obstruction on issues such as gay equality. It would be far easier to mandate that any county receiving more money from Olympia than it sends hold a special election, requiring the local citizens explicitly to accept "state government welfare". (There was a bill on this point a few years back.)

Since we're going to need help from ALL Washingtonians to help pay for that mistake of a Deep Bore Tunnel, I think we should be nice to everyone in Washington State.

As with everything else in this state, Seattle's taxpayers will shoulder a disproportionate amount of the burden for any costs of a state project. Since Seattle benefits greatly from the removal of a shaky eyesore from our waterfront, and the reduction in single-occupancy cars at rush hours that the tunnel-bypass will bring, for once it makes sense for us to pay the cost.

A intelligent model is needed to reflect the rich city poor city populated city tiny town that exists but the fact is we are in the same boat? If for some peculiar reason east side and west side do not help pay for the needed things its because some jerk off is mayor and some creep is governor and after they cry about how broke they are and raise the cost of living 3 to 10% they about face and start looking for ways to spend money on sports arenas in hopes to place them where they will create massive traffic jams should cruise ships baseball football and port of Seattle and hockey or basketball are all going off at once?

Its not about who pays as it is what is spent for what?

As for the issues its more about lame ass media that spits stereo types and negative drama queen information?

Gays exist and are real people and serve the nation in every form and at every level? for decades the media as splattered the image of cross dressers and guys in womens underwear to create this bizarre Mardi Gras flaming freak? not at all relevant to love and our contributions from gay people.

"not at all relevant to love and or contributions from gay people."

God, I am soooo behind Carlyle on this. Honestly how else will these people ever discover their hypocrisy? It's the whole "keep government's hands off my medicare" nonsense; they want it both ways. Yes it would be a tragedy if the people who benefit from services take a hit, but I just can't imagine it would last very long, once their eyes are forced open.

Eli: Your progressive buddies run up HUGE bills to pay union state employees billions per year.

And now you are blaming rural counties for your peoples extravagant ways??

OMG- and they say cocaine DOESN'T do brain damage?

Misc.
As an almost life long Spokaneite, I've enjoyed tuning into the east west poli-saga. Here lately, since the beginning of the 21st century, the Idaho marketing peeps keep telling us how its cheaper to do business there. I believe this is a trickle down approach where low wages end up making it hard for their locals to live. Example:The Post Falls Outlet mall is 90+% empty store fronts while the one the North Bend Wa. are thriving.

It's kind of like how you can count on Israel to invade a Arab nation in a election year and to talk as much trash as possible (so not like Israel to talk) it's the republicans maneuvering the topics for discussion.
Let's hope Obama and the Dems talk about what needs to be heard

Seattle, the home town of Bill Gates, is having a 40 million dollar budget deficit? What's wrong with this picture?

Please wait...
