Amazon may be extracting what's left of authorship once the web took over.
2
I much prefer Amazon's honest capitalist greed to the phony public relations "progressivism" of Seattle's business class.
3
Just think. Chris Christie could probably have become a beloved curmudgeony TV judgmaking millions a year instead of a scandal-plagued politician under investigation for pettiness.
4
go read the transcript of the shooter's video, 2nd amendment absolutists.

“I’ll take great pleasure in slaughtering all of you. You will finally see that I am in truth the superior one, the true alpha male,”

that's what your antiquated bullshit enables.

Oh boy, musical captains! Metz in charge of patrol will fix everything this time for sure.
6
@4: don't you get it? This is just a false flag operation by liberals to make responsible gun owners look bad. Study it out.
7
(er, musical assistant chiefs doesn't have the same ring..)
8
Anyone know who is the poorest actor in Hollywood?
9
@8
Dumb question, sorry, Ansel Herz knows. He's a good friend of the downtrodden.
10
Is Folklife still a thing? It used to be my go-to on Memorial Day weekend... I guess it isn't a thing anymore, or surely Seattle's Only Newspaper would be covering it.
11
Amazon is dead to me

Buying my used college textbooks from BN now
12
If only those drunk teenagers in Isla Vista on a Friday night had been armed, it all would have turned out SO much better . . .
13
@10,

It's still a thing. I honestly don't remember ever seeing The Stranger cover it aside from the shooting there several years ago.
14
@10

Well, at least they're going to cover the big music festival all weekend instead of the guy who went on a shooting spree because women didn't want to go out with him.
17
Dan covered the shooting in 2009, at a fitness club, by a similar guy.

I know why Judge Judy is so popular. Because she's not beautiful but she's smart. (and if it doesn't make sense, it's probably not true!).
19
@4 I partially agree with you but can we say he couldn't have gotten a gun the legal way and even with a background check done?
20
The shooter appears to be the son of a director for The Hunger Games. (Article says it's a second-unit director--some sort of assistant director, I gather.)

I notice there's no sign of 5280 in this thread.
22
@4, wow, a young adult who feels that they've never found love in their life and decided to end it and take innocents out with him. Obviously, it's because of the guns and how women didn't throw themselves at him.
24
@21

We could google "accidental shootings while cleaning your gun in Colorado" to see if he's in the news.
26
@25: You are capable of humor! (But was it intentional, I wonder...?)
27
We have a 141 page manifesto to accompany the video now.

Not that it's any less tragic, but after all the misogynist stuff we're hearing about, the seven dead include himself, three men in his apartment, and I read about one other man. I don't know about the other two victims, but at least five are men.
29
ABC says it's nine dead now.
Also:
Police said three guns were recovered from Rodger's car. Police said he had more than 400 rounds of ammunition.

"All were legally purchased from federally licensed dealers and all were registered to the suspect," the sheriff said.

@27

The very notion that our media is giving this criminal piece of shit the lifelong elusive notoriety he so craved is despicable.

Not many people will stand up and call out the media for giving homicidal madmen the 15 minutes of fame they've craved their whole pathetic lives, but I will.

It's very fashionable to blame responsible gun owners, or even the guns themselves when a lunatic shoots a bunch of people, but I don't hear a liberal hue and cry when the media fetishizes these horrible bastards and gives them the moment in the sun they've always wanted.

And still the media always piously denies any culpability whatsoever... while simultaneously collecting sensationalist ad revenue with the blood of the victims.

How do you like that for hypocrisy?

"I notice there's no sign of 5280 in this thread."

My, that's awfully perceptive of you. If you're that astute, you undoubtedly noticed that there was no sign of 5280 in any thread yesterday. I was enjoying my Saturday and didn't even look at Slog.

Not sure what your point is, though. I wasn't aware that I had some sort of obligation to comment every time some batshit-crazy wingnut goes on a shooting spree. I certainly didn't know the jackass, nor did I sell him any of his guns. And guess what? Neither did the NRA.
32
@31: I'm not saying you're to blame. I'm saying that you're unconditionally defending some of the people who are.
Nice job spewing invective at a victim's father in that other thread, by the way.

Please wait...
