And American's still vote for the GOP in shockingly high numbers. We really are a stupid nation
2
This quite reminds me of dan's tweet here:

https://twitter.com/fakedansavage/status…

I'm half excited to watch the internal divisions within the GOP grow more obvious.

The other half of me is dreading the 'good' side of this split using their sorta beneficence to hide their deeper, more important anti-people fiscal agendas
2
Next campaign cycle: More endless squealing from the GOP claiming that they care about the economy.

Next legislative session: A million more attempts to fuck with people who need abortions.
2
Republicans are horrible people. And the people who vote for them are idiots.
2
What Catalina said. Times ten. I've been told I was, shall we say, not choosy when it came to the men I slept with but by damn I have never slept with a Republican.

@4 I just see it as one has to persuade some of those idiots that all is forgiven, and see the light with progressive and liberal candidates... Besides trying to stymie the power of money that packages scare tactics and right wing echo chamber talking points to people to vote like idiots.

No matter if they are idiots, they are Americans, and we have to get out a better message so they will see the good in voting for progressive and liberal candidates, besides progressive ideas. Politics is always messy, and we need the unwashed ignorant peasants to get back or retain power..

This should be a movement: every time the GOP floats bills like this, people should email them, tweet them, or post on their Facebook pages asking them to explain how the bill will create jobs or improve the financial stability of the middle class. (I'm sure they'd either ignore or answer with empty rhetoric, but that would just call attention to their complete lack of an economic plan.)

Republicans are back to their "legitimate rape" stand. Given what a low per cent of rape complaints lead to even a trial, let alone a conviction, is it any wonder that many women decide not to compound their pain by going through the system? Especially when the rapist is a family member or someone in the survivor's social system, the fear of not being believed or losing the support of friends and family makes it even harder to report. Then the slut shaming -- especially if the woman had too much to drink or is sexually active -- piles on the pain.

@6:

These are people who don't care about the message. All the GOP has to do is attach the word "liberal" to something and they'll be against it. I swear, they'd vote for their own mass-enslavement if some RW 1%er told them the taxes deducted from their paycheck was just a "scheme to force you into paying for liberal big-government programs".

@4, Catalina, I really think you're over generalizing. Not all people who vote Republican are idiots. Many of them are actually quite smart horrible people. Those that aren't horrible are almost all idiots though.

I for one am thrilled at this bill. I was seriously afraid the Republicans were going to stop talking about rape. I'm glad they've assuaged my fears. I hope they get back on the gay slamming too. We wouldn't want moderates to think Republicans have gotten sensible would we?
11
Yeah, but if we elect Democrats, they'll just take away our guns so we can't protect the job creators from IRS overreach, thus ending FREEDOM for all time.
12
Not that I believe a word of this shit, but these people want bible based laws and Deuteronomy 22:28-29 allows this bullshit.

Well, they want the laws regarding women anyway, less about the lying stuff which is an actual commandment.
13
@9 They vote for their self interests. They are also easily manipulated, or get most of their information from talk radio and the right wing echo chamber...

It is frustrating, it is infuriating, and I rather write them off, and micro target suburban voters, mainly suburban women.. However, to win elections either one has to diminish the big money power or persuade enough of these dimwits to be become smart voters, and why they should vote for Liberal and Progressive candidates.

What is also very damaging and I saw this in 2010 mid terms are the power of EMO progressives, who kind of act like Lyndon LaRouchies, and find huge faults whatever President Obama did..
14
Sooner or later Real Republicans are going to wake up and realize they can't go on allowing women in their party at all.
15
What if a woman chooses not to report the crime but only later finds out she is pregnant? I can see that happening. You know what's even more likely? People claiming that victims are 1) lying about being raped so that they can have abortions and 2) not just horrible sluts who deserved it but horrible baby-killing sluts who deserved it.

The whole idea about abortion is that most women want to keep it private. Reporting a crime is public.
16
@12: "Not that I believe a word of this shit, but these people want bible based laws and Deuteronomy 22:28-29 allows this bullshit.

Well, they want the laws regarding women anyway, less about the lying stuff which is an actual commandment."

Yeah. The Bible forbids shaving the side-whiskers in the same language (and same chapter) it forbids gayness. And yeah... Republicans certainly don't have any problem bearing false witness against their neighbors.

It's just funniest when they do it in court, where claiming that gay marriage hurts kids is literally bearing false witness.
17
@1 & @4 tied for the win.

2 questions: will this insanely continued War on Women bring a new wave of Lorena Bobbitts?
How bloody ugly of a revolution do we need as a nation? Hopefully nothing like 1889 France!
18
Well 1889 France built the Eiffel Tower, had to deal with the syphlitic brain of Guy de Maupassant, and his sex addiction. Recover from the wine crop devastation, and having to deal with the Orson Welles of his time, King Edward VII and his weekend trips to city of Light.

However, you were close, just off by 100 years...

I was more wishing for a Mongol type of pillaging of Samarkand, or even 12th Century sacking of Baghdad...
19
Why would anyone with a uterus vote Republican?
20
@19 Their misogynistic religion tells them to.

Please wait...
