We mock things worthy of derision, and that mocking, to carry the appropriate sting and to provide some amusement to the people who have to put up with such bullshit, must use appropriately scornful and sometimes even base language.

I believe with no reservations that hatred, no matter how deep, can be overcome through rational thought and education. Its like "pray the gay away" for humanists. "Reason the hate away."

Meanwhile, the conservatives laugh amongst themselves, "these cum swilling liberals think we can stop fearing and hating people different from us through personal choice! By studying and accepting modern reason, science and literature!? BAH! I WAS BORN THIS WAY, BABY!"

@7: Decent quality virgin blood is exceedingly expensive these days. Dan is not Bill Gates and so can't really afford it. Now if he wants to risk aging MORE then he can get the cheap blood from MRA people.

As usual, when a [presumably] straight person expresses the idea that performing fellatio is immoral, degrading, disgusting—I'm at least as concerned about his attitude toward women as toward gays.

Generally, people like that are religiously warped; self-loathing homosexuals; pedophiles; or some combination of the above.

I'm a strong supporter of LBGTQ etc rights; I support Dan Savage; and yes, my main email account is on AOL. It still has a great client app, actually. I got it in 1998; everyone knows it; I'm not dumping it just because it's on AOL. Yes, I also use gmail and yahoo accounts for various things, but my AOL is my main email, so to all of you haters - fuck off! (smile)

I haven't watched the clip, but in the frozen image at the beginning, quick glance without yet reading any of the surrounding text, thought it was either Gilbert Gottfried (sp? AAAAAAFLAAAACK!), or, yeah, Ron Reagan Jr. NOT THAT THERE'S ANYTHING WRONG WITH THAT. And totally thought was your bathrobe.

So funny - I was using the "prove it" line to my mother as long ago as the early '80s, and it's just one they can't answer. Dan, my only argument with what you say is that religion is a different category because it is listed in the 1st Amendment. The other categories of equal protection and civil rights have been established by court decisions and/or statutes. It's something I wish we could fix.
