Those people are as good looking as the actors of the Fox drama about Greenpeace activists would be. That photo might even be the promo for the new series.
@1) So you are attempting to say that, because their boat likely runs on oil product, they should not be trying to prevent the future decimation of this planet's ecosystems?
With the same logic, I propose that since the sun causes cancer, if you get cancer you do nothing about it.
Also @6, how exactly are they doing anything to stop global warming by following these ships around. This is just a PR campaign. Surely there is an option that doesn't require so much burning of fossil fuels just to post pictures to twitter.
No it isn't. Proportionately, it'd be like protesting animal testing with an infinitesimally and impercetibly small drop of Maybelline applied somewhere to your body that was required to be applied to your body in order to facilitate the protest.
This is why Everyone Hates Young White Liberals. They're the fucking worst.
Issue #1 - what work are they doing? Effectively none that couldn't be replaced by a 15 year old Thai or Malay person with no formal education.
Issue #2 - these 6, who are doing literally no work, also have dietary restrictions? Jesus fucking christ, toss them overboard. No one needs that shit, space is scare on a boat.
Issue #3 - This greenpeace boat isn't doing anything meaningful in the first place, except just trawling around.
@24 - This is completely false. They solidarity-ing and tweeting. Sometimes the Final Six pose for pictures where they look through binoculars at a rig that they can't legally get any closer to. Also it appears that one is working hard on a beard. These are all things that cannot be done by a 15-year-old Thai or Malay person. Well, maybe just the beard part.
Since we're now all aware of the Greenpeace vessel and Shell wanting to drill in the Arctic and dock in Seattle, I'd say they ARE doing something. There are different levels of meaningful action, and in our democratic, media-centric society they're doing the most powerful thing they can. Would you similarly argue that marches or sit-ins for equal civil rights for African Americans in the 60s was 'doing nothing'? Some of those people were just SITTING on busses!
While their attractiveness is obviously subjective and debatable, I would like to see the butt ugly activists get some press too. This is total bullshit.
