There is a lot to be concerned about if they couldn't even make it up the Sound without having a three hour delay because they were not properly prepared.
Before the USCG scooped up O'Brien, he told The Stranger over the phone that he'd be willing to face arrest if it came to that. "Why is the law protecting Shell Oil but not the planet?" he asked.
Because American's aren't all that interested in changing the law or their consumption habits. As one piece in The Stranger noted, global warming makes it into the top 5 issues that presidential election voters consider when choosing a candidate. All the "ink" spilled here is preaching to the choir, not expanding the number of people who want to join the choir.
@7, What Law? please list your Cites from the Links below. Also, don't put shizz you think applies. Or, what someone else said. YOU made the claim laws were broken. Now YOU can prove it.
On this day where the protesters drove to the ocean (using oil) and boarded their Kayaks (made of oil byproducts) and paddled (also made of oil) out to protest the use of more oil. Um????? This wasn't doing anything for the good. This was so the protesters could be smug and tell their friends they did something. A better use of time would be educating people about ways we can save oil. Teach people about ways to conserve or new technologies that will allow us to do more for the planet. These protests are a joke.
Sydney wrote, "While reinforcements showed up, law enforcement confiscated the line." Law enforcement is a process, not an entity that can take action. Who confiscated the line? Local police? State police? Military?
