i'm flummoxed that this is even a debate, but then i need to remind myself that the majority of americans do not own a passport, and the outside world must seem like a very scary place.
2
@1: I can certainly understand why the debate is happening, people have an irrational fear of terrorism, and it is easy to see why/how a terrorist group could use the refugee crisis to move operatives around the globe.

It is like how people are afraid of sharks. Deep down we all know that your odds of being attacked by a shark are super low, but the idea of it alone is scary enough to keep a lot of people out of the water. It is just human nature.

What's up with the brown shirts?
4
@3 yeah, same thought here. Unsettling, but maybe not what it looks like.
5
I can't help but notice that the ones exhibiting the least American behaviors are the ones surrounding themselves with God and the Flag. It's almost like they're using both as a shield against criticism. But that can't be right.
7
Should have had some "not afraid of 5-year-old orphans" signs.
8
The brown shirts were anti refugee demonstrators who acted as security, pushing pro refugee demonstrators back until help from state troopers arrived. Many of them had insignias on their hats or shirts.
9
I thought you pussies all had guns for personal protection. What's the worry? you'll just take the Terries out when they come to shoot up the Grocery Outlet in Granite Falls.

10
Great photos. Glad to see the pro-humanity protesters acquitted themselves well. Too bad about the fascists.

I love how Americans act like there aren't terrorists here on their own soil murdering people every single day - most of them white, male, American born. Denial and hate run deep. Our country is such a toilet bowl full of crap - dumb, racist crap born and raised here.
12
@8 wait... what? The brown shirts themselves were the *least* of the symbolism?
13
@6: Man, if that women was on the pro-refugee side, you would be getting slammed for a gendered insult.
15
We should immediately accept all all fighting-aged men from Syria. I mean "refugees."
17
Does one of those signs actually suggest deporting Inslee?

So, the far right understands politics/laws exactly as well I as thought (not at all)
18
Why the Syrian refugees hate? Do those people even know anything about Syria?

Like ISIS would ever bother to infiltrate refugees groups, and risk drowning in the seas or starving and freezing to death in the refugees' camps! It can take YEARS for people in refugees camps to even get an interview, and then jump through all the hoops immigration requires. Why on earth would ISIS waste their time doing that, when they can just recruit angry, alienated, lonely and hate-filled AMERICANS?

Then there's the ultimate stupidity of only accepting Christian refugees and requiring Muslims citizens to register. 'Cause terrorists are incapable of lying evarr, right?
19
Perhaps we should do as Canada ids doing regarding the Syrian refugees. Women and children will get a fast track entry visa, next will be married men. Single men will be a different story though and will have a much longer wait before entry is granted, if at all.

Great. Let's move them into Magnolia, Queen Anne, Capitol Hill and Mercer Island.

Oh wait, the rich white liberals have moved to those neighborhoods so they don't have to be around brown people. Move 'em to Renton or someplace south of I-90 they say.

Educate yourself. Refugees go through a months-long process of heavy scrutiny before they actually get in the country. They sit in guarded camps until they pass the screening process.

@21....Apparently not in Europe. Many refugees just start heading toward whichever country they wish to go to. Once there they claim refugee status. At this point the is a background check but if they come from a war torn area checking is almost impossible. Because of that many people from other countries who just want to get to Europe tag along and hope to slip through the cracks. That's why Canada is taking a careful look at the unmarried men applying for refugee status.

Please wait...
