Summon the ghost of LBJ and take a page from the GOP's notebook. Soft power isn't working in Olympia, people.

The urban/suburban-rural divide is real (politically) and the right knows this. Maybe we should recognize that too?

Put simply: Olympia hates Seattle. The City's recent Proclamation of Emergency regarding increasing homelessness called for more federal and state funding. Everyone knows that's not going to happen, nor will anything Seattle wants come from Olympia, especially now that both houses are solidly Republican (two Dems in the House caucus with the Republicans). As the above poster says, no point in tiptoeing around asking nicely when the answer will remain "No".

There's still time to ram through the street vacation for a SoDo arena (with $125+ million in tax kickbacks and no guarantees of living wage jobs or fair scheduling policies for what's mostly part-time arena workers) as well as vote on giving Comcast a fancy new franchise agreement (which, I learned from the presentation, has a low income program (30% off basic services, $5 off others) that the city advertises with this sort of fanfare and detail).

I'm glad I vote. Seeing Washington depicted as the reddest of states on the featured map chart for this article already has me worried.

Jamie Pedersen is on the record as being against rent control in all its forms.

The district he represents is one of the ones with the most desire for a progressive agenda, and yet we elect this bozo time and again?

We need a change.

Please wait...

and remember to be decent to everyone
all of the time.
