Yeah so many paying tourists are carried around the city on the back of a motorcycle. Motorcycles kill so many innocent bystanders when they crash. They're basically two wheeled Ducks. I'm glad somebody finally had the courage to make the comparison. Kudos, brave hero.

First duck out of the gate will be pretty safe, with an announcer aboard and the driver observing all road rules. Then they will start getting lax.

No matter how you tart them up, remember that the Duck vehicles are retired amphibious landing craft. They are armor plated and heavy. They were designed to land marines on beaches, not speed down city streets in traffic. Just about anything they collide with is going to lose. They are a menace on any road.

Any idea when they'll be using their private launching ramp off Fairview in South Lake Union? Has the construction even been permitted let alone started?

The settlements and resulting insurance rate spike will put the Ducks out of business soon enough anyway. They were caught driving unsafe vehicles on a state highway for commercial purposes, actions that resulted in fatalities. There's no way they have enough cash stashed away to make all of that go away, which means their insurance company will get involved. Which in turn means they will no longer have insurance. No one's taking that risk again.
