So how is it that a city official's bad driving cost the city? Was she piloting a city-owned and insured vehicle? Why did the insurance not cover it? Was the city sued rather than her personally or the insurance company? And if so was she on city business in Tacoma?

@1 if only there was some highlighted blue text you could click on for answers.

You've got your numbers wrong with "Plenty of Weed in Washington State." It was estimated that 2 million sq. ft. are needed to meet the state's medical demand, not total demand. The real story is that there were concerns that the current output of the recreational industry would not be able to support both medical and recreational demands when the two systems were folded together. The medical grows had been largely unsupervised, so we previously didn't have a good idea of how much demand would increase when production shifted to the regulated, recreational industry.

But zomg 6x more weed!! will probably get more clicks.

"Hundreds of activists are gathering in Anacortes this weekend for protests aimed at keeping fossil fuels in the ground" - will they all be paddling or pedaling to Anacortes, or will fossil fuels be involved?
6
@4 is correct. Consider that fossil fuels are a large component of the materials (plastics) being used by the activists which make up the kayaks, vehicles & boats (burning fuels), tents, sleeping bags, fleece clothing, food storage containers, drysuits, lifejackets, mooring ropes, cell phones, computers, megaphones, etc (did i miss something?); and that the authorities response will be to corral the protesters using boats & vehicles burning fuels, radios, zip tie handcuffs, busses, etc, am I the only one not seeing the forests for the trees? How do the protesters rationalize their ironic presence?

However, to take no action and acquiesce to the status quo, is to be complicit with big energy's destruction of ecosystems and doom future generations.

@2- Those were all of my questions. The article answers some, but not all of those questions.

There's two overarching questions that need to be answered re: the need for budget cuts at the Sheriff's office: 1) How are revenues for the general fund changing in the next biennium from the current one, and 2) how is the Sheriff's budget changing under the planned cuts between the two as well?

If it is priorities rather than revenue that are changing, the public deserves a little more insight into what those changes are.

Any updates on the Hamza Warsame case you're interested in sharing Ansel? Since you did so much to fan the flames of that particular situation back in December--just thought you might like to update everyone on it. Perhaps the worst irony of the case is that after hyping this up as some kind of hate crime, it turns out the poor kid became frantic after worrying about how smoking marijuana might impact his standing as a Muslim and that his subsequent actions led to his accidental death. I also wonder if Kshama Sawant has anything to say about this.

Please wait...
