Cannabusiness Owners and Employees Discuss the Economic Reality—and Limits—of Working in the So-Called "Green Rush"

"You see many people working hard, working long hours, and not driving sports cars. The people I see are motivated more by what they can do to help other people.” the stranger

Great read! Educational. Kudos on Ike's for healthcare benefits but, from what I've heard, that's the only positive thing about them. The worst to me is the hard time they give Ruckus. Ikes's have their own popular spot in the neighborhood next door. There's no need to force another location across the street from Ruckus. Ruckus has been a great addition to the Cap Hill neighborhood (cool spot yet discreet, friendly&fun staff, good variety). One of the many great things about Seattle is its support for local businesses. There seems to be a harmonious variety of cannabis retailers (46 you said) in Seattle. I'm wondering, why is Ike's trying to snuff Ruckus out of the Cap Hill market with another location across the street? Again, I don't have any facts but that's the word on the street. It irritates & disappoints me because that's not what this neighborhood or Seattle is about.
BTW❤️❤️ The Stranger ever since I moved here 8 years ago. It's my "weekend bible" 😄 🙏🏻❤️❤️👏🏻

I just want MJ consumers not to litter or smoke in the parks. That is the deal: Legal weed and legal (though low wage employment because low barrier to entry) in a new service and retail industry.

People wanting really good wages should learn a skilled trade and work outside in construction or maintenance. We are installing a huge base of sophisticated large buildings.

The BLS website has a wealth of employment statistics for excellent career guidance and our taxes paid for it already so it's free to consult.
