My real fear is not that Trump will be Adolf Hitler or Benito Mussolini.

My fear is that he will be Zaphod Beeblebrox.

For those exposed to the work of Douglas Adams, the above named character appears in a series of satirical novels as the President of the Universe. Only he doesn't actually govern anything. He just engages in high profile attention grabbing stunts that distract everyone from the people behind the scenes running the show.

Trump has stated that he sees the Presidency as equivalent to a Chairman of the Board, and the Veep as the COO. This may be the deal he struck with the GOP upon winning the nomination; Preibus and Co reign in Paul Ryan and John McCain, ensure everyone falls in line and nobody revolts against Trump, and in exchange Trump agrees to let Mike Pence do the actual governing.

This could explain the cabinet picks, who all seem to contradict his campaign pledges to drain the swamp. This could account for his downplaying of campaign promises that probably won't come true, such as jailing Hillary or building a wall. And at the same time, it allows Congress and the Senate to undo every piece of Obama era legislation.

Meanwhile, Trump comically gets implicated in 'pee-gate'. He makes rude comments on Twitter about Meryl Streep. And then he critiques Arnold's performance on the Apprentice. We all freak out over his antics while Congress quietly repeals the ACA. Nobody's looking, because they're all too busy staring at the Orange Freak.

Don't panic, indeed.

She should swing by Rep Mike Coffman's office to let him know that he's a piece of shit.

#4 You seem to be really fucking stupid, and a genuine asshole...at the same time! Quite a feat. Kudos.

Seattle Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal won't be attending the inaugurations because it's good publicity and she'd rather take the day off. The roundtable discussion she'll have instead will be at a Georgetown bar and grill with like minded colleagues and staffers playing hooky at taxpayer expense.
7
@6 Its better than sitting through a Toby Keith set.

No one will be attending the inauguration. On January 19th, President Obama will schedule an unexpected prime time news conference, similar to the Bin Laden announcement. He will say that there is now irrefutable evidence that the Trump campaign illegally colluded with the Kremlin in an effort to influence the presidential election. And that in consultation with, and with the full support of, every law enforcement, defense and intelligence agency in the government, as well as from every key member of congress in both parties, Mr. Trump and many of his closest advisers have been arrested and charged with treason. President Obama will remain Commander and Chief until a new election can be held, and he urges the public to remain calm, describing it as glitch in our imperfect democracy, but one that will ultimately make us a better and stronger country.

A poke in the eye with a sharp stick. That's what I imagine when trump gets his O.K. to be the boss. Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces! What have these people done? Why did they vote for this nincompoop?

#8 I'm not a religious person but I will say a prayer tonight that this happens. I know for a fact that there is a higher power and he/ she/ androgenous spirit will set things right.
11
@8 - political fantasies don't usually give me a boner, but that one sure did :-)
12
Ditto on @8 - after all, Putin kills his enemies with ricin.

i've admired jayapal's public service these past few years but have never had a chance to vote for her (lived in the 43rd when she won the 37th seat, now live in the 9th rather than the 7th...). throughout the past election, i prefered her over walkinshaw, but would not have been crushed if the results worked out the other way. watching her today and these past two weeks, however, has been galvanizing in a way i was not anticipating. she knocked it out of the park at the #OurFirstStand rally today, and seems to strike an incredible balance between the fire of 2015-2016 bernie and the universal appeal of 04/08/12/16 barack. she's going to be thrilling to watch these next few years. i look forward to supporting her policy efforts as best i can and selfishly am excited to see how her energy affects my congress member, adam smith.

@13 typical klownservative response to anything outside your whites only bubble, while the libtards are working hard making money and creating a tax base ...you...Joe " BSA 3.0" Jobless is kicking back eating his high calorie fast food bitching about urban libtard welfare queens all the while developing diabetes and eventually being taken to ER at taxpayers expense ...Being admitted for cardiac issues then realizing you were kicked off your insurance because the repukes repealed the ACA and you have a preexisting condition...and you can't pay the bill because you didn't feel like going back to school after your factory job shut down , .... You'll let the libtards pay for it because they're libtards...And since you live at home in your mom's basement they'll never find you.

@1, @8, @9, and @10: Thank you.
@16: Ugh--stop trolling already.
19
@17: Could you please further elaborate this to @16? He's just as clueless.
20
The modern term is troll.

To my mind, this is delightfully juvenile, something ripped right out of a fairy tale. However, it's so far removed from what it actually is (strangerino probably doesn't live under a bridge in Fremont, although you never know) that it causes everyone to forget how to deal with it.

The older term is better. Attention whore.

Now, how does one deal with an attention whore? Not by complaining that the attention whore exists- but by denying it the very thing in its name-attention.

You cannot elaborate or convince an attention whore that you're right. There's no way to win a fight with one. Thats because it doesn't really care whether you're right or wrong. That isn't the point. It just wants the limelight.

If you really want the attention whore to go away, ignore it.

Its so nice to see that we elected resonable, logical thinking "adults" to be our representatives who not only understand "the now", but how they are going to diplomatically work across the aisle to get anything accomplished in the future - BRAVO!. Upon reflection, it would probably be a good thing they dont attend. Photogenically, they both compare a bit to the pug breed of dog. (No sincere disrespect to the wonderful, lovable pugs out there!)
22
Why is it that when liberals make fun of conservatives who are trolling here, the go-to is that they are unemployed and/or eating a lot of fast food and getting fat/developing diabetes?

Just something I have noticed, and always wondered about.
23
Yeah Jamala. I called my Rep Denny Heck and asked him to do the same.

Remember Hep Kats, don't feed trolls.
24
Thank the FSM for leaders like Pramila Jayapal who have the courage to stand up to President Twitter Troll and his legion of orc-like, hate-crazed, neo-fascist, racist, xenophobic, sub-moronic followers.
25
Trump is also a rapist, just in case anyone forgot.
28
I'd love for every Dem who goes (and Jayapal should) to turn their backs to * when he passes, and during the oathifying. * has earned no respect. * debases the office, the constitution, and the nation.

@22: does it hit too close to home?
29
@22:

Well, it definitely describes a lot of my conservative relatives.
30
@29: Know of any liberal, alcoholic, overweight folks with type two diabetes whom never touch fast food and are great in the kitchen or BBQ?

Of course you do.

And let's not stereotype the unemployed, that's cruel.
31
Too bad Murray already has her seat at the big pharma inauguration table.
32
@28: No, I just find it odd that even in a political argument, the go-to for stupid people is "well, I bet you're fat!"

I just think it is strange how consistent it is. But I guess a childish lack of imagination should be expected to some degree on a comment thread, and I guess being fat does seem like it makes a person a failure, if you never matured out of middle school.
33
Intersting. I will be the first to admit when Ive crossed a line an I believe I may have with my earlier post, but only on the point of Photogenics and for that one - I apologize. On the otherhand and on the subject of "trolling", I find it both curious and a bit hypocritical that most people who point fingers at those they label as "trolls" also have no compunction to sitdown as a group a watch "Family Guy" or "America Dad" and laugh their ass off, fat or otherwise.

Please wait...
