No, no, of course not. What (some) people are suggesting is that we abolish public schools. Duh.

But that's probably not the best analogy for what the police/prison abolitionists prefer; I reckon they're more the home-schoolers of criminal justice theory.

As someone who has worked in the current detention center, it is a complete outrage and disservice to children who come into the system that the debate around the proposed center has been hijacked by activists. Thank God that these judges had the guts to stand up to a mob and inject facts. Those judges, not the activists, are truly doing the work that serves juveniles whose lives are broken and who need the complete services designed for that center. Please, Stranger writers, gives this issue a fair hearing.

Does the law stipulate anything about the jail? Could it be a two-cell building like they had in Mayberry?
