Aren't you going to wish Ruth a Happy Birthday (while you still can)?

Wrong link in the Maryville Couple Murder Story.

@2 Thanks! Fixed.

Twitler could go on national television and announce that he's a Russian agent working to destroy the US government for his own personal profit, and his hate-crazed, sadistic followers wouldn't care. They proudly voted for this lying, racist, sexist, xenophobic, bullying, vile, rapist scumbag because he's just like them.

At this point, we desperately need a meteor strike on the White Trash House during a meeting of Twitler, Penis, the full cabinet and CONgressional leadershit to get someone decent in office.
5
@4: your meteor strike is not going to happen.

what's going to happen is that it will take time for the full picture of the * campaign's collusion with the FSB to emerge, probably a year. in the meantime, the federal government will be crippled, and unable to provide popular services that citizens want, but ideologues oppose.

Trump's 2005 tax returns where he paid 25% tax rate = news.
Vault7 = SHHHHHHHH!!

Does Wallingford not realize that their property value goes UP substantially when they upzone?

Sadly you can never count on a meteor when you need one.

What about if Kim Jong-un drops a handful of nukes on the West Coast; say Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles....does he have a spare for Portland? hate to waste one...
with the enlightened city dwellers vaporized Washington and California would be reliably Red states for a couple of generations.

@7 I don't think that follows - underutilized property, like derelict commercial or ratty old houses will go up. But people aren't going to tear down near-million-dollar prewar craftsman bungalows and replace them with danish prison duplexes. And then a crucial component of the value of that near-million-dollar bungalow is that all the houses around it are near-million-dollar prewar bungalows rather than danish prison duplexes.

The whole purpose of up-zoning is to increase supply which will drive costs down. And a crucial compone

@1 Jeffereson: I already did, am grateful that Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg has stated that she will continue to serve as long as she can, and YOU'RE WELCOME. and @8: Stupid trolling commentary like yours is largely why the West Coast is openly seceding from Trumpzilla's evil RepubliKKKan reign of terror. Like a true Trumpzilla supporter, you make no sense at all.
@4 Original Andrew: I like your idea of a meteor strike on Trumpzilla. Here's hoping Rachel Maddow's exposure of Trumpzilla's tax return, though it's from 2005 and not 2016, finally proves to be the straw that takes the monster down in flames. Fuck the imbeciles who blindly support Trumpzilla---here's to their suffering the most for their shamelessness about destroying democracy and the health of our people and this planet. Fuck you, RepubliKKKans---choke on it.

@6:

The point being, of which you are no doubt aware, isn't how much he paid in 2005, but rather that, assuming for the sake of argument that his more recent returns would show similar tax bills, why is he so afraid of releasing them, just like every other president has done for the past 70-plus years?

@8:

Were such a scenario to ensue, the survivors in the suburban and rural areas down wind of the blast zones would suffer a lingering malaise from subsequent radiation fallout, which in turn would also cripple much of the nation's agricultural output, and require massive amounts of federal aid in the hundreds of billions of dollars, combined with the sudden loss of the tax base contributed in large part by urban liberals, the result being many Red Hats reduced to a primitive level of subsistence where their much hoped for libertarian/every-man-for-himself wet dreams would very quickly turn into post-apocalyptic nightmares.

Well, by next term they'll need to replace her lace collar with a bib but, luckily for the left, even when she is a drooling demented halfwit the quality of her opinions will remain the same.

Or we could bulldoze the wreckage into the ocean and move the mutants to Las Vegas where they would fit right in...

@12 According to CNN, it was Nixon who first released his tax returns...in 1973. In case you didn't realize it, that's after having won a re-election and while he was under audit and in the midst of Watergate.

So, Jimmy Carter was the first president to do so pre-emptively, in 1976. That's only 40 years not 70+ years. But, what's 30 years between friends...?

Not saying that your argument is completely invalid, just that lying or exaggerating is unnecessary and weakens your argument.

@11 Sadly, there's a good chance that Herr Drumpf leaked his own 1040 to prove what a great taxpayer he is. It also gave him a chance to attack MSNBC for scurrilously publishing it, thereby proving to his country trumpkins that he's the victim of an evil system and they need to destroy it and hail him as their Fuehrer.
16
Greta Van Susteren would have not fallen all over it like Rachel and would have been savvier.

SFH zoning is always about racial and ethnic exclusion.

Always.

Why we refer to "North of the Ship Canal"; code for "only white people".

@12: "...the result being many Red Hats reduced to a primitive level of subsistence where their much hoped for libertarian/every-man-for-himself wet dreams would very quickly turn into post-apocalyptic nightmares. "

Yes but their fat larded carcasses will be mighty tasty! And you can just bait 'em with old cheetos!

@14,
You have a point. I think this story about Pres. Trump's 2005 tax return is biting Rachel Maddow more in the back than it is the WH. It just isn't big news. I think to most Americans it, the story elicits a yawn.
20
@17, Thank you.

It's usually about keeping out the POC poors wrapped in a Seattle nice blanket of "we want to preserve the character of the community."
21
The piece does note the (smaller) group of HALA supporters who appeared as well. "Welcoming Wallingford" is trying to bring a different perspective to the conversation about how to create livable city. I think there is misinformation coming from some of the opponents so hopefully there will be room for a genuine discussion over the coming year.
22
@14 "lying or exaggerating is unnecessary and weakens your argument."

I would like to agree with you, but we have many, many years of Republicans disproving your point.

@19 "Trump's 2005 tax return is biting Rachel Maddow more in the back than it is the WH. It just isn't big news."

Really?

If anything, I believe the reaction has shown that there is a lot of interest (in its several meanings) in Trump's financial situation.

With the notable exception of those outside the reality-based community, this should have successfully rebutted the uninterested and disinterested myth.

@14:

It wasn't a deliberate prevarication, I simply read something incorrectly, as apparently Truman's returns weren't preemptively disclosed, so my bad on that.

@17, 20: Oh please, you YIMBY's are so full of shit. POC are simply a mascot for you people to advance your agenda.

Case in point: The eviction at Umoja Peace Center in the CD. The location is one of those eeeevil single family homes, must be some rich, privileged white Trump voter living in it, hmmm? So the resident is being evicted so the land can be developed. Who do you dumb asses think is going to live in the fancy condos they build there? Hint: it won't be the poor black people you profess to speak for.

"This is what gentrification looks like?" THIS IS WHAT YOU URBANISTS WANTED! To get rid of SF homes!

How about instead of pretending to be on his side, you YIMBY's go apologize to him instead?

Please wait...
