SDOT to pedestrians...
SDOT to pedestrians... Charles Mudede

How Is SDOT Trying to Fix the Mercer Mess? With a new technology that gives cars more time at traffic lights on Mercer. But in this universe, or at least the one we can see and understanding (which is around 5 percent of the whole universe), something gained is also something lost. This is true for time as it is for matter. In the case of the traffic lights on Mercer, the loss is found in the time pedestrians have for crossing this street, which is often clogged with cars. It took a whole new real-time technology to do this most obvious of things. You will agree it's hardly wonderful, and nor was the project that installed the system cheap. Millions upon millions went in to it. Millions that could have gone to dedicated bus lanes.

KIRO: "The Seattle Department of Transportation celebrated the technology as successful in reducing traffic delays." But how much time was taken from pedestrians, the niggers of American transportation, to obtain this success? KIRO found that as much 45 seconds at certain lights on Mercer. And what did SDOT have to say about all this? That pedestrians are basically stupid. They need to push the bloody button when they want to bother the new technology with their dumb crossing business. If you press the damn button at a crossing, the system will recognize that you—the thing it hates the most—are hanging around. But if that's the case, and I doubt that it is, why all of the champagne popping at SDOT? If pushing the button returns time to thousands of pedestrians who use the street daily, then we are right back where we started—the miseries of the Mercer Mess—and all of this has been a great waste of money.

Pedestrian Struck and Killed While Crossing Street in Belltown: The hit happened on Tuesday morning. The pedestrian was a 36-year-old woman named Adriana Brown. While in the marked crosswalk, her body was crushed by a pickup that was making a left. She died later that day from the injuries. Seattle Times: "Her death was ruled an accident."

While We Are Talking About the High Number of Potholes: Which, unlike SDOT's new hi-tech traffic system, love pedestrians and hate fast cars, there is this to consider: our many buckled sidewalks.

Some Excellent Facts About American Gun Deaths: According the Seattle PI, two out of every three gun deaths in the US have as one the victim and the killer. Seattle and King County, the densest areas in Washington, have much lower gun-death rates than the state as a whole. Read more facts here.

My Northwest Really, Really Hates: Cary Moon, who is running for mayor. The website just cannot get enough of this hate.

Seattle Is Pissed at Kshama Sawant: Why? A radical group has printed statements by the radical Councilmember Sawant that call "for protesters to shut down the freeway." The authorities are going on and on about how this is dangerous, people might get killed, harmed, alarmed, and so on. How irresponsible of her! But we all know what's really worrying the authorities; we know the image that's more and more oppressing their minds as it grows. They fear that the bad traffic Seattle has already had enough of will be made worse by the protests and Sawant's demands on Monday, May 1. And bet your bottom dollar that it will be worse—there is no way around that fact. So, soyons raisonnables and keep our cars at home on that day. There are our legs or Link, both of which are modes of transportation that are anti-Trump.

Woman Driving On I-5 Almost Killed by a Falling Tree: She was driving south on I-5 in a red Prius, driving to Tacoma, driving to buy curtain rods—and that's the last thing she remembers. She returned to consciousness in the hospital. Cuts were all over her body, a rib was cracked, and her neck was in a brace. A cottonwood tree had, after a very long life, fallen onto the interstate, fallen onto a Prius that happened to be at exactly the wrong place at the wrong time, fallen on the woman.

Do Not Paint Trees For Any Fucking Reason: You would certainly not like it if a tree painted you blue or orange or purple because it was trying make some artistic statement about the fate of humans.
