We completely understand the need that's out there. The point is that ... [city officials are] pitting one community against the other. You're completely ignoring the fact that there's an existing community that will be greatly impacted."
That's pretty much what all NIMBY have said about homeless housing in their neighbourhood...
@2: Oh yes, the ever so convenient and ubiquitous NIMBY acronym. Trouble is, no matter how often it's used as a talking point - it doesn't negate the facts of what's going on.
Residents of little saigon are right - under Mayor Murray the City has taken the stance that Community Engagement = Shoving it Down Citizen's Throats. They did this with the $15 minimum wage law, with PRONTO, with the STREET CAR, with all the HOMELESS ENCAMPMENTS, with the HALA committee that only had one neighborhood representative and by getting rid of the NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCILS. There has been no real community engagement - all the meetings are phony and set up with lots of City Representatives as plants to steer the communication in the direction the City wants it to go. Look at the HALA open houses that collected our comments on post it notes and little slips of paper. Ask the committee to show you where your comments are listed - they will not be able to do it because it was all for show. Very Disappointing - I am so ready for a new Mayor.

Who wants to deal with strung out homeless people?
Intersectionality! White fragility!
Go!
Someone needs to let Charles know that NIMBYism isn't limited to white neighborhoods.
