Why do we refer to the US Chamber of Commerce as "the Chamber." It's not a chamber of government. It's a lobbying group. It shouldn't be referred to as "the Chamber" but as "the lobbyists" at best, although "CoC" is vastly preferable as proper shorthand.
I kinda like that itâs referred to as âthe Chamberâ. It preserves the sinister connotations associated with âtorture chamberâ, âgas chamberâ and âchamber of horrorsâ. Why whitewash an evil cabal with an innocuous acronym?
