"Labor split begins?"

Really?

I do realize that being a political hack is part of the job description at The Stranger, but how do you even keep your MacBook from sliding off the desk when your headlines are that slimy?
2
Not sure what @1 is on about. Clearly both candidates are picking up labor endorsements...

Hence, a split.
3
One union endorsement doesn't seem to be a compelling argument for a split of union support.
4
Well, that's one. Let's see if she can get another.
5
@2

Moon now has one labor endorsement. Singular, not plural. Since you seem to think pedantry is a perfectly acceptable excuse for this unctuous hackery...
6
Let's see... "First Labor Endorsement" (meaning one). Split "Begins" meaning pretty clearly that it hadn't existed before.

Still not sure why you would pitch a fit about that. I suppose you could interpret that as pedantic, but so is drawing the line that says "One endorsement is not a split". If Moon gets a second or third labor endorsement, you could look back and say "That is where the split *began*"... Unless your whole point is that labor could not possibly support Moon, and that any evidence to the contrary is an aberration.... Is that you panicking?
7
I don't think you can effectively make the accusation of pedantry (or hackery) when you are the one carefully parsing in order to accuse the writer of hackery.

@6

Look, pedant. Moon has one labor endorsement. Durkan has a dozen. Labor's endorsement is not "split," it is overwhelmingly behind Durkan. The fact that Moon has managed to eke out one labor endorsement -- ONE -- does not mean that labor's endorsement is "beginning to split," that is gross spin doctoring, and you should be ashamed of yourself for defending it.

This isn't about which candidate I prefer (I like Moon a bit more, for now). This is about The Stranger eschewing even a shred journalistic integrity and treating their readers like drooling idiots, all for the sake of pumping a politician.
9
The endorsement list is low hanging fruit for a campaign article. How about an expose on this year's PAC money?
10
@8: You are, by far, the most pedantic person on Slog. For your reference:

"Pedant - a person who is excessively concerned with minor details and rules or with displaying academic learning."

You argue about decimal points and article headlines, often with incredible condescension, all while being as politically dull as you are pointlessly officious. Being the smartest person on the internet must be a terrible burden.

"Labor split begins?"

Really?

Actually, this headline started as the title for a post about McGinn's endorsement of Moon, and Oliver's endorsement of nobody. It was to be called, "Loser Split Begins." :-)
12
McGinn endorsement = kiss of death.

oh roboslave, are you seriously arguing that labor is UNITED behind Durkin at this point? Are you even involved in labor politics or just a lurker like you are on other causes you and I disagree about? Can I go off about Durkin's use of a grand jury to hunt down anarchists or her use of a sex predator to inform on occupy yet? or is that off topic?

Please wait...
