"Any individual not making a million dollars or more a year who banks with a national bank is part of the problem."
I certainly don't make that much, but very happy with BoA for one of my accounts. Great service, enough points on my credit card to travel to Hawaii every year for free with the missus, great customer service. Just last week they called to tell me one of my credit cards had suspicious activity so they FedEx'd a new one over night.
Of course, I pay my bills on time and have a near perfect credit score, which might help.
@1 Hurricanes, drought, year-round wild fires, poisoned air, rivers, and soil, exploding oil trains, BP oilspills, chemical dumps into rivers and groundwater, OK earthquakes, destroyed property and vineyards, floods, land slides, bankrupt fisheries, wildlife, extinctions, DEATHS!
@4 Corps of Engineers was ordered to do full EIS on DAPL; the 8th biggest bank in the WORLD just announced they will no longer fund fossil fuels extractions and pipelines. AND Big Oil is trying to sue to stop their actions ('cause only the NRA and bigots have the right for free speech and protests, amirite?) So they're losing only in your alternate universe, where you and Herr GropenfĂŒhrer are sick of winning!
While I appreciate the effort that went into this protest, I've never fully understood why the bleeding left get's so worked up over banks, who are just one source of capital is this country - there are many many more willing and able private sources for projects like the pipeline. But Sanders' cry of "Break up the big banks!" became the 'off with their heads' of the 2016 presidential election, sending the crowds into a rage and so I guess it stuck.
And it's nonsense. Canada, the county with the most functional socialistic-ish government in the Western Hemisphere has a total of five banks, and one of the most transparent and efficient banking systems in the world. The difference is that they're highly regulated. The problem isn't the size of our banks, it's that more legislation like Dodd Frank is needed. Raging at them is pointless. They're just doing what banks do.
@12 By the way, I also haven't stepped inside a bank in probably a decade. I've met my investment advisor but that's usually at a Starbucks downtown, but actually step foot in a bank?
Who does that anymore? Oh that's right, BECU members with their "savings" books, like 12 year olds.

Which is funny since the banks paid back the 2008 TARP funds WITH interest, unlike many of Bernie's dead beat supporters, who also don't even know this basic FACT.
What about all the people who lost their homes in âo8 and their jobs due to the big banks?
Ordinary people go to banks or preferably credit unions because they donât have a fancy agent working for them. When banks are funding corporate environmental destruction and other crimes then they can expect retaliation from people being harmed.
@17 Donât get me wrong, the banks screwed up majorly in 2008. Clearly credit should only be given to the credit-worthy going forward. In the old days you used to get interviewed for a credit card. Now they hand them out to any fool at Costco. Try getting a mortgage these days without a good credit score.
So people who lost their homes and/or jobs are left out in the cold? You are privileged but you donât see it. One illness or disaster can put someone on the streets.
Many people are working but donât earn enough to get a place to live in this city. Shelter is a human right not just reserved for people with money.
Not

Maybe a plague of locusts can be blamed on my SUV? Increasing cases of heebee jeebees?

Yep, and good luck fixing a problem with your account if you're in Tokyo or London, or need funds transferred overseas at 3am, Seattle time.
I stay with BoA (and HSBC) because small local banks are no good for national or international needs.

"....actually step foot in a bank?
Who does that anymore?"
Small business owners (or their employees) who run cash businesses like restaurants and bars.
Have you ever stopped to think before making a post Roger?
Wow, so the protesters are harming small business owners and minimum wage workers.
Bold, smart move.
"Wow, so the protesters are harming small business owners and minimum wage workers."
Inconveniencing bank customers isn't harming anyone.
Seriously, try thinking once in a while.
