I find it odd that the employees can strike like that, not that I am unsympathetic, but their reasoning is that since Amazon is doing so well they deserve a bonus. I have been involved with unions for most of my working life and once you had a contract, legally you could not have a work stoppage unless the company was in violation of the contract. If the union caused a stoppage like that the union could be sued by the company.

@1 European unions work differently.

Good for them. They are a great example of militancy.

A) Germans can't see the krony that their economy is incapable of creating Google, Amazon, Facebook, Microsoft, Intel, Etc...

B) If the company is doing well and profits must be distributed -- buy shares you fucking dimwits. Put some skin in the game.

@4:

They have literal skin in the game already; that's why they're striking, to protect it from the abusive practices of their employer. And if there's any irony (sic) to be found in the situation it's that without them your AMZN shares would be worth considerably less than they are now.

@5 Just what are those abusive practices of Amazon?

You're a hick.

Shit, it's just as idiotic to say that because we don't have something like Foxconn, or Shenzhen in general, we should emulate China.

@8

And you're a fucking sap. Germany will be the first to tell you that the Germans -- while productive -- are saddled with large, heavy industrial and manufacturing corps (corpse) that are incresasingly challenged for their technical prowess. Such is their desperation to hold-together the EU, and import "war refugees" (aka African economic migrants) to provide low-wage labor and spur the retail and services economy. For a country of 85 million, Germany has been totally out-hussled in the Information Age, and just because Volkswagen sells a lot of combustion engines to the Chinese doesn't make them a certain player in the future.

Workers aren’t benefiting from this casino economy. People need to have a society that benefits them. Cheap labor is a goal of amazon et al. Their CEOs are robbing the communities including workers for everything they can so they can live their obscene lifestyles of incredible wealth they take from the majority of the people. Many workers cannot afford decent housing, decent food and on and on. The corporate elite have their mafia which includes politicians and police and the prison system. Don’t see many rich people serving time. Unions should protect their members from exploitation and poverty unfortunately they are too tied up in the system. They can be improved and workers would be worse off without them. Unions are made up of mostly workers and were started by them.

Worker run industries are far fairer and there are examples throughout the world such as in Spain, here and South America. But the elite don’t want the people to know about that as it is a threat to their casino economy. Our environment cannot continue to sustain this maniacal drive for growth.

Union hierarchy is just as elite as the corporate hierarchy; they are in it for themselves. They skim all the cream from the top while union members get what's left over. Organized crime has been leading unions for decades. Power corrupts.
