Haglund would never prevail on this thing. So why did the City Attorney waste more than $200,000 tax dollars on hiring lawyers to defend Sawant and the city? This was not complex. Holmes claimed that he needed a First Amendment lawyer. Nonsense. He has a lot of fine lawyers who would enjoy taking this on. Holmes is also spending hundreds of thousands of dollars hiring outside lawyers to appeal the trial court's decision striking the city income tax. Unless the Supreme Court of Washington reverses decades of precedent it won't happen. It was a certain loser. Again, salaried assistant city attorneys could easily handle this one. Holmes disrespects his own lawyers and wastes tax dollars.

No fan of Sawant but she is correct that Haglund is a slum lord. I hope he rots in hell one day soon.

@1

Nevertheless, $200,000 < $25,000,000.

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@2- even a broken scarf-wearing socialist clock is right twice a day.

6

So you are saying CM Sawant is going to be right 730 times each year. Shit, reelect her already!

7

Sounds like Sawant was dead right here.

The most concerning part to me is the whistleblower former employee who, based on his experience, thinks he can create more change by writing letters to Council members than working at his job. That really should not be the case.

"Elected representatives must be able to zealously advocate for policy proposals in service of their constituents," Holmes said, "regardless of whether others may agree with the tone or substance of their statements."

Does Mr. Holmes consider calling Policemen "brutal murderers" for shooting an armed felon who resists arrest (while committing two other felonies) "zealous[ly] advocat[ing] for policy proposals in service of their constituents"?

People who don't give a fuck about poor people can go ahead and dis Kshama, but the fact remains that in all the long decades that passed before she was elected the city looked the other way at abusive landlords who intimidated and evicted tenants who complained about black mold, rats, roaches, broken appliances, broken windows and dangerous electrical code violations. Haglund's St. Charles Apartments tenants had to put up with all of the above and jacked up rent to boot. May a thousand Kshamas bloom!
