Sweeping all encampments within and near the CID would do more to reduce crime — hate or otherwise — against Asians than would any amount of money spent on these social-service groups.
Only in The Stranger would a cut in perinatal funding for incarcerated people justify a headline that hate crime prevention funding is being cut. Your Fox Newsification continues.
Watching the Stranger suddenly pretend to care about crimes against Asians is humorous only in the darkest and most cynical of ways.
After the Stranger had faithfully regurgitated every shouted demand of Seattle’s self-appointed screaming activist class (“Defund the Police! Stop the sweeps!”), inhabitants of the immigrant, working-class, neighborhoods of color in the CID asked for more community involvement in the siting of homeless-service providers in and near the CID. Everyone else recognized the legitimate concerns the CID protesters had about increased crime near such service sites, but not the Stranger, which promptly called the protesters Republican NIMBYs and told them to STFU already.
(And, as already noted, this article is more concerned with keeping the money flowing to private social-service agencies; actual reduction in crime from these programs, if any, is difficult to determine.)

Harrell has always hated homeless people and wants them to die, but now he's added AAPI people to his list of enemies.
@8: So, Harrell has added himself to his list of enemies?!?
