She's Talking a Big Game about Universal Health Care

@1 That was my question as well. I clicked the link and the video description reads:

Senator Kuderer's daughter was stillborn at six months, revived, healed, and at five months old had "nearly reached her lifetime cap" on health insurance. "It was at that moment I realized how bankrupt our healthcare system was, and that it really was only for those who had the resources," Sen. Kuderer says, and she has championed universal health care ever since.

That's a huge stretch of the word "stillborn", and while I see why a politician is using it, the article should've said "premature".

With this agenda, she should be running for the state legislature, not the OIC.

Whenever I see a politician use the word equity anymore I just assume it means the cost will be going up while the quality will be going down. Similar to when Kriedler issued his ill fated and ultimately illegal ruling that all insurance companies could no longer consider credit scoring. All that happened is insurance rates spiked several hundred dollars for most people and nothing much changed for the disadvantaged communities he was claiming to serve.

In what possible construction of reality can the decision to pull out a gun, load it, point it at a human being, and pull the trigger be considered "negligence"? If there is some ongoing combat and you're shooting the gun in a reckless way that maximizes risk to bystanders, fine. But if this is your first and only reaction to somebody walking onto your property, you're not being negligent, you're proactively and willfully deciding to hurt and possibly kill people.

@2 merula I'm not going to comment on the use of the word "stillborn" because I don't know the science well enough (although I admit I was also puzzled reading the article), but I find it disturbing that we hold politicians to a lower standard of truth and accuracy than others (this is a widespread problem). So long as we expect people who hold power to lie, to mislead, to scam their constituents; so long as we do not hold them electorally accountable for this; so long as we value political might over justice, we will continue to fall into corruption. We will never have justice if we do not expect leaders to be just.

@4

This sort of sociopathic insanity: holding people hostage over credit scores may suit the ideology of cruelty and dishonesty, but it has no place in a rational, civil society.
