OMG - WHERE IS THE LEADERSHIP?? Where is Obama? Where is every other consultant that swore they’d fight for democracy last year, and please send $5. The only elected official who has been able to cut through the noise was AOC, who said she’d fight Nazis until she’s dead — a concept that was not controversial 10 years ago. Someone needs to step up.

The state is in the hole $12,000,000,000 and we're worried about 250 million from the feds. We have bigger fish to fry!

"Anyway, the long and the short of it is that there’s not much we as Washingtonians can do here besides worry. "

Bullshit! We can demand that the legislature pass a big herking wealth tax, and we can demand that the Governor sign it into law. Fuck that Trump-groveling Bezos and his ilk anyway. Tax the motherfuckers till their eyes bleed.

@3
Patriotic education.
You object to a different brand of propaganda than the progressives approve of?
@4
YES!
Tax them until they leave the state and lay off hundreds if not thousands of employees

“Patriotic education” from a president who led an insurrection and thinks he can pick and choose which parts of the constitution apply to him. Probably not a good idea to let people hate everything about this country decide what kids get to learn about it.

@6
If Trump supporters wanted to launch an insurrection, it would have looked a lot different.
The GF protests in Seattle were more violent and did more damage.

@7, I agree it was a stupid and futile effort to stop the certification of the election. I also understand that “nuh-uh” is the best that you can muster as a Trump supporter because you can’t defend what happened on January 6, but we all watched it unfold in real time. It was messy and embarrassing and doomed to fail for being led by a delusional narcissist, sure, but it was an insurrection nonetheless.

@5 how many high wage employees from places like Amazon work in Washington? Washington isn't even first on the list and has half as many as the #1 state.

"California remained the top state in 2021, with 170,000 employees. Texas also has a large jump in employees, putting the state’s Amazon employment at about 95,000 people. This made them the second state in the number of Amazon employees. For the first time, Amazon’s home state of Washington was third in the number of employees (85,000). Florida (59,000) and New Jersey (58,000) rounded out the top five."

Do you think Amazon will leave Washington because their employees will have to pay a wealth tax? Do you think the employees will give up the stock options (that likely won't count as wealth since it's not theirs yet) over a haircut on their wage income? Amazon started here for a reason — access to high talent compsci workers. The workers stay because they make a lot of money. Making a little less won't change that for either of them.

Seems like you don't run a business if you lay off all your workers over a tax that will also impact your competitors and will be passed on to consumers who will simply pay it because for many, Amazon is the only game in town.

Bow down to dear leader president tiny Dick Tatortot for only he can save you from federal interference in your life. Donnie Johnny’s Uncle Ronny started the millionaire lie in 1980 that we should waive the tax to the rich so they can trickle down their massive profits to the 98% below them. Wealth distribution has only gotten disproportionately worse not better. Money was given voice by the Supreme Court, who ever has the most is the loudest and the loudest is throwing seig heils to his prod boy compatriots.
